Can you help me choose a compact SUV?

Changing in 2018 We have two cars, my wife has a 161 Hyundai I/10 petrol with 12,000 km and a 141 Opel Mokka diesel with 32,000km but we drive both cars. I am planning to change the Mokka in 2018. I only really use the car at weekends and at the last service had to replace my front disc brakes because of rust. I like the driving position of the SUV and I intend to look at other cars such as the Skoda Karoq, Hyundai Kona, Seat Arona , KIA Nero and KIA Stonic. I previously owned a 2010 Qashqai and a Ford C-Max. I would like a SUV with more boot space as we had to get a roof box for the Mokka. I am not even sure that I should buy new, but I generally keep my car for four years. Although the car is clean I do not expect to change to a new Mokka for less than €12k. My budget is €10k + the trade in. What would you recommend?

Our answer:

Hi Paul,

Your Mokka should be worth in the region of €14,000 to €15,000 as a trade-in. That should put you in the right ballpark for a SEAT Ateca or the upcoming new Skoda Karoq, which, to our minds, comes with the best combo of comfort and boot space. Nissan's updated Qashqai is also well worth a look, as is the Renault Kadjar. The likes of the Kona and Stonic are likely to be a bit on the small side if boot space is a priority.
