Can you advise me on selling my car?

Please advice me on car selling

Our answer:

Hi Anne,

We’re assuming your car is in full working condition for this advice – if it’s not, then the first thing you’re going to need to do is get it repaired until it is. From that point onwards, they say the first bite is with the eye – so the easiest way to make your car more saleable is to have it looking as good as it can possibly be. That means giving it a good scrub outside and in, so that it is as close to spotless as its age allows. You also need to gather together all the paperwork you have for it, like ownership documents, NCT dockets, the owner’s manual and the service history book. Then, using your car’s make, model, engine size, mileage, year and trim specification, look up on Carzone what comparable vehicles are retailing for and price your car accordingly. Finally, be prepared to accept slightly less money than your car is advertised for; buyers always like to haggle and get a bit of money off, so if – for example – you want €5,000 for your car, perhaps stick it up for sale at €5,500 or €5,750 and then work down to your minimum price from there.
