Hello there My car is sitting in the drive and has not been used for a couple of years (CV-19 and the Working from Home facility). I now drive a motorbike, my wife has her car. The tax has long-since lapsed on the car and when I attempted to tax the car the Tax office was looking for circa 1,500. I wish to sell the vehicle, but cannot see any reason to pay tax on a car that has been, and remains off the road. Am I correct in thinking that there's no requirement to pay tax on a car is sold 'as is' ? Regards Martin
Hi Martin,
We've had clarification from the Motor Tax office on this and while you are liable for the tax on the car if you put it back on the road, if you sell it, then it resets as such as you have no more liability.
