Yes, it is technically possible, but before you do so, make sure you get a few insurance quotes first. In terms of motor tax, privately-registered vans go back to the old 'by engine size' ratings, rather than using the CO2 system we have had on passenger cars since 2008. That usually makes them more expensive to tax than the flat €333 commercial vehicle rate, unfortunately.
