Can I get my faulty EV replaced?

Hi , I have a 7 month old electric vehicle , bought from new (€55K).I would prefer not to mention the brand . 4 weeks a go the car failed to charge . Although the dealer has offered a loan car, this is petrol and not what I signed up for . The dealer cannot say when the replacement part will arrive - so they have no idea how long I will be without the car I purchased - Is there a valid argument for the car to be replaced under the sale of goods act ? Appreciated

Our answer:

Hi Paul,

You do of course have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, though while it states that the seller is responsible to rectify the situation, it is generally acknowledged that they have the right to attempt to repair the faulty product. If you are not happy with the speed with which this is happening, or the lack of communication about the same, then I suggest you get in touch with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to talk through the details.
