Well, there’s a couple of things you can do. Check with the garage you’re buying it from and ask them for an explanation. It could be that the car was original pre-registered (that the dealer sold it to themselves and put a plate on it to bump up their monthly figures) before being sold on to an actual customer. While that’s technically two owners, pre-registered cars are sold as effectively new, with tiny mileages, if any. It could be an innocent mistake. If you suspect that it’s not, and if you feel that they’re trying to pull the wool over your eyes, then simply rock up with a copy of the ad, a copy of the history check and demand your deposit back as the car was falsely advertised.
