Can I drive my brother's car?

My brother just bought a car and it's for my use, I told him it wouldn't be a problem that he owns the car but needs me to drive him around. As I'm a fully qualified driver over 30 years now. He has insisted I ask if he can own it and I can be taxed and insured without needing to own the car. Appreciate your help

Our answer:

Hi Claire,

Generally you can only insure a car in your name if you own it or your spouse/partner does. Get your brother to insure it in his name and add you as a named driver, though if you are actually the main driver, you should disclose that to the insurance company. Taxing a car is easy as it's online so once your brother has the details, he can pass that onto you to do.
