Can I drive in Ireland on my Indian licence?
Hi Team, I am working in Ireland on deputation and I will be here till dec 2018. I don't have irish license but I am holding Indian driving licence. Is it possible for me to buy a car and use it till end of my stay with available documents. Regards Dileep

Hi Dileep,
You will be fine to drive on your Indian licence until December, as you can drive in Ireland for up to 12 months on a full licence from any country. If your stay is longer than 12 months, then you need to apply for an Irish licence, but as India is not on the list of states whose licences are automatically recognised by the Irish government, you’d have to apply from scratch, and sit the full Irish licence theory and practical tests.
