With those sort of mileages on them, and for such similar prices, this one’s a no-brainer: go for the BMW. It’s two market segments above the Opel in the first place, while it will likely have stood up to the rigours of such high mileages better as well. Neither car is known for being appallingly unreliable so, as long as both have good, strong histories on them, they should serve you well – but we’d be going for the 5 Series in your position.
