You’ll find the best value in converted van types, the likes of the Citroen Belringo, VW Caddy and Fiat Doblo. Not the coolest of cars, but tonnes of space inside all of them, and your €12k budget gets you into one of those with a 141 plate. Of the more conventional people movers, the best are the VW Touran, Ford Grand C-Max, Kia Carens, Toyota Verso, Citroen C4 Picasso and Renault Grand Scenic. Make sure you buy with a full service history and check the interiors of all carefully for any damage or destruction from hard family use.
