It really depends what your priorities are. If you want a lot of choice, then aim for the months following the new car registration changes (in January and July), as new car dealers will have good stock of trade-ins. If you just want to get a bargain from a used car salesman, then the last weeks of December or the first weeks of January are great, as it's very hard to sell used cars at that time of year.
