If you don’t fancy an SUV (and to be honest, most of us probably shouldn’t) then the best family cars are mid-size estates (assuming you don’t need the extra seats of a seven-seater). Try a VW Golf Estate, Kia cee'd SW, Skoda Octavia Combi, Peugeot 308 SW, or Toyota Auris Sport Tourer.
