Even with the reg we can't quite narrow down the engine that's fitted to your car, other than knowing it's a 1.4 TFSI unit.

The A1 was facelifted in 2015 so the answer depends on whether your car was pre- or post-facelift. From 2015 on, all 1.4 TFSI engines in the A1 used timing belts, but up to 2015 some of them used timing chains - specifically the 122hp and 185hp versions of the engine without the Cylinder-On-Demand (COD) technology. 

All COD engines in the A1, no matter the year, use timing belts.
