Does Astra DV13AAE 1.6 Have a timing belt or chain ? Do these need changed 104k
Hi Jim,
We can't get quite enough information on the engine based on your reg, unfortunately, as there were a number of different 1.6-litre petrol engines available in 2013.
The non-turbocharged unit uses a timing belt that should be changed at least every 150,000km or 10 years - whichever comes first.
Then the turbocharged engine's belt (179hp) should be changed at least every 150,000km or six years - whichever comes first again.
However, there's another version of the turbocharged engine called SIDI Turbo (170hp or 200hp) and that actually uses a timing chain. That does not have a set replacement schedule.
If you can get us your engine code we can confirm for sure.

Ask us anything motoring related and please provide as much information as possible so we can give you the most accurate advice.
