Hi, I am looking at buying a Skoda Fabia SE L TSI - 2015 (65 plate) with a 1.2l petrol engine and I have been told by the garage selling it that this model has a timing chain that won't need changing. Looking online it seems to say that this model actually has a timing belt. Are you able to confirm which this model is likely to have?
Hi Alice,
It depends on which generation of the Fabia this is as an all-new one launched in 2015. The newer model's 1.2-litre TSI engine uses a timing belt where its predecessor had a timing chain. Given this car is a late 2015 vehicle, I'd assume it is the newer one, which would actually have a timing belt.
