Belt or chain in my Fabia?

Belt or chain in my Fabia?

Looking at a Fabia 1.2 SE 63 plate and not sure which engine it is . Cambelt or chain - if belt when is a change due and should it include a water pump change. Thank you

Our answer:

Hi Steve,

It is common practice to replace the water pump at the same time as the timing belt, yes.

Now, there were several 1.2-litre engines in the 2013 Fabia. The diesel has a timing belt, which should be replaced at least every 210,000km regardless of time. All the different 1.2-litre petrol engines of that year in the Fabia use timing chains.
