Belt or chain in a 2004 Corolla?
Does a 2004 toyota corolla 1.4 litre petrol have a timing belt or timing chain? Also are there any other common issues known with this car?

That engine has a timing chain.
As the car is nearly 20 years old, you can expect lots of potential issues, even if the core model and engine were quite reliable for their day. A few things to watch out for:
- Idle speed way too high
- Ticking noise from hydraulic tappets
- ESP light staying on
Those can lead to costly enough repairs, but there are lots of little things that can go wrong as well, as you'd expect of a car that age now.
