We're not sure which engine you mean. The 1.0 petrol uses a timing chain, the 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines and all the diesels a timing belt. The only possible confusion is with the 1.2-litre petrol engine. In 45hp guise (made from 1993-1998), the 1.2 used a timing belt, but there's a later 65hp variant (1997-2000) that then used a timing chain.
