For an eight-seater you really need to be looking at stuff based on big vans – Hyundai Montana, Volkswagen Caravelle, Ford Transit Tourneo etc. They can be relatively affordable to buy (unless you’re going after ritzy versions of the Caravelle), but running costs are going to be higher than for a car-based seven-seater simply because they’re bigger and heavier, and therefore thirstier. On the upside, they tend to be very reliable and servicing can often be a bit cheaper thanks to their commercial vehicle origins.
