Are DPFs troublesome on Irish cars?

Hello are there problems associated with the DPF filter with cars imported from the UK. Do irish cars have this filter installed?

Our answer:

Hi Seamus,

Most recent diesel engined cars will have a diesel particulate filter (DPF) fitted irrespective of market - UK cars are identical in spec to Irish cars in this instance. As for trouble, they only become troublesome if the car has been driven only on short journeys, not long enough to allow heat to build up in the exhaust system to keep the filter clean.
