Are dampers covered by warranty?

I have a 161 opel corsa with 75k and warranty that covers 3 years and 100k. Just have my car in garage and i was told i need to new rear shocks as they are leaking. This is not covered under warranty im told as its wear and tear. Surely leaking shock absorbers is a defect? Any help would be appreciated

Our answer:

Hi Paul,

I'm afraid it's quite normal for suspension components such as shock absorbers not to be covered under warranty. If the car was only a few months old you'd have an argument for saying there was a defect, but I don't think you'd get far with that with a 161 car with 75,000km on the clock, unfortunately.
