ESB's eCar website is a good place to start checking out electric car facts and figures, and then we'd suggest finding a good independent car review site to get some unbiased opinion on which are the best electric cars currently on sale. We'd suggest that the latest version of the Renault Zoe and the Hyundai Ioniq are both good places to start.
