Any premium seven-seaters?
Hi...I am looking for advice on changing my car. I currently drive a 2012 Audi A4. We have two children -a three year old and a five year old. My wife is expecting our third child. We need to trade to something bigger but I am not at all sold on any of the boxy family carriers on the market. Is there any premium brand with a bit of extra space worth looking at that will cater for us?

Well, both BMW and Mercedes make mid-size MPVs — the 2 Series Gran Tourer and the B-Class — which should fit your needs in a practical sense, but perhaps not in a sense of style. Would you consider a Volvo XC90? The new model is still pretty pricey, but the old-shape one is still an excellent car, has all the space you need and can be found at some pretty attractive prices if you shop around. Ditto the BMW X5 (which is actually a bit cramped in the back seat) and the Audi Q7 (which is utterly massive). Or, and this would be our choice, track down a Mercedes E-Class Estate with the rear-facing folding seats in the boot. As secret seven-seaters go, it’s hard to beat.
