You have a wide variety of choice for your €10,000 budget, but be aware that if you go for a prestige model – we saw automatic examples of the BMW X5, Audi Q7, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Discovery, Porsche Cayenne, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes GL in this bracket – then they’re likely to be around ten years old and showing mileages of more than 160,000km… significantly more, in some instances.

You can get something lower miles and slightly newer if you look at vehicles like the Volvo XC60, Nissan Navara (pick-up) and Jeep Commander, but if you want something really nice and new, that’s high-riding, look for a used Dacia Duster – around €10,500 gets you a 141-plate diesel model with the autobox and around 65,000km.
