A few details on the Lexus CT 200?

Is the Lexus ct 200 discontinued or will be discontinued in the next year? Is there any battery that I will need to change? Is a 2017 model a good choice as a second car?

Our answer:

Hi Juliano,

The future of the Lexus CT hatchback is indeed uncertain – it looks most likely that it will be replaced with an even smaller crossover than the current UX entry point to Lexus pseudo-SUV ownership and the CT would therefore be discontinued. Lexus claims that its Hybrid Drive batteries last for the life of the car and they’re also warrantied for five years, so on a 2017 model you’ve still got a lot of leeway on battery life. The CT isn’t a terrible car but we’ve always thought it a bit confused; better to look at in its sportier guises, but then it rides poorly as such and that defeats the quietness and smoothness of its hybrid drivetrain for city driving. They are, however, very reliable cars so if you really like it and the way it drives, there’s no reason to avoid it.
