Would a dealer allow a no-cash deal?

Would you know if dealers ever let you downsize your card (mine 142 Kia sportage 95k on clock) to a smaller car e.g 1.4 Mokka/stonic etc without having to give any additional money

Our answer:

Hi Mary,

Not usually, but it is always worth asking. The problem is that if you’re trying to downgrade and pay no cash, you’re basically asking a dealer to swap one piece of stock for another — another car that they then have to sell on. If your car is especially in demand (and in fairness a used Sportage will always sell well) and they don’t have too many others to sell before it, then you might stand a chance, but in general dealers will always want to have some element of cash or finance in the deal to make it worth their while.
