Audi A6, A4 or Golf GTD?

Audi A6, A4 or Golf GTD?

Would you change an Audi A6 (152)s/line black edition to a newer Audi A4 s/line or a golf GTD TOP SPEC or keep The A6??

Our answer:

Hi Paddy,

That A6 is a cracking car, so if it’s in good condition, and fully serviced, and running well, then all things considered we’d probably keep it for another year and see what Audi does with the new-generation A6. I don’t think there’s much point in trading down to an A4, as there’s not really a whole heap of difference, and you’re just ending up with a smaller car that doesn’t, fundamentally, drive any better.

The Golf is an intriguing wildcard, though. Lots of fun to be had, but we’d advise against going for the GTD — the standard GTI is actually so tax-efficient, and can easily do better than 40mpg if driven gently, that it makes the GTD pretty much redundant. The petrol car is lighter, more agile and more fun. If you really want to change, go for that.
