2018 Skoda Citigo and Rapid Officially Launched In Ireland

Carzone attended the launch of Skoda's new models in Dublin recently

This week, Skoda Ireland held a launch event for its newly-updated Citigo and Rapid models in Sandyford, Dublin, just a stone’s throw from Carzone HQ. Both the Skoda Citigo and Rapid have received styling updates for 2018, with new engine choices and a host of additional equipment too. We spent time with both models on the day, with our first drive taking place in the Citigo.

The Citigo is the smallest car in Skoda’s range and it rivals similarly-sized cars such as the SEAT Mii, Volkswagen Up! and Toyota Aygo. The new Citigo has a reshaped bonnet, front grille bumpers and new LED daytime running lights, while it also gains new alloy wheels. What’s more, it has a choice of new paint schemes and the interior has been redesigned with upgraded technology.  We drove this high specification Monte Carlo Citigo on the day which adds sporty details inside and out.

Next we took the new Skoda Rapid Spaceback for a drive. The Rapid also has a fresh new look with new equipment such as LED daytime driving lights, a modern touchscreen infotainment system and a tweaked interior design. For the first time ever, there is also a brand new 1.0-litre TSI 95bhp petrol engine available in the Rapid range, which boasts strong fuel economy and low annual motor tax at €190.

Commenting on the new models, Skoda Ireland’s Head of Marketing, Raymond Leddy said “The Rapid and Citigo have been really popular cars in Ireland over the past few years, and I have no doubt that people will be very impressed with the new models. We look forward to welcoming lots of new and familiar faces at our dealerships across the country to take them through these exciting new models.”
