See all Motoring NewsThe new Honda Civic Four Door Saloon has officially arrived in Ireland, following in the footsteps of the latest Civic five-door hatchback which went on sale in Ireland last year. Carzone took the new Saloon for a drive, and it should prove popular with family and executive buyers thanks to added space and practicality inside.
The Civic Saloon’s design is more conventional that the hatchback with a sloping rear and redesigned rear bumper, while the interior is almost identical. Higher specification models include Honda’s CONNECT seven-inch touch screen system with integrated Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with dual zone climate control, a reversing camera and lots more. There is 519-litres of space in the boot too, which is an increase on the hatchback model.
The Civic Saloon is available with a new 1.0-litre VTEC turbocharged petrol engine, or with Honda’s updated 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, and both units are available with manual and CVT automatic transmissions. We drove the 1.6-litre i-DTEC model and it is well-suited to long journeys, with strong fuel economy and prompt power delivery
Prices for the new Honda Civic Saloon start from €24,750 in Ireland for the base specification 1.0-litre VTEC Turbo Smart model, and there are two higher specification Smart Plus and Premium models also to choose from.
Speaking at the launch of Honda’s 182 campaign recently, John Saunders, Sales and Marketing Director of Universal Honda Commented; “2018 is a very important year for us, which will see us delivering a full range of entirely refreshed and all-new cars into Honda showrooms nationwide. The Honda Civic Family is now complete with the 4-Door Sedan due to arrive into Ireland in August, followed by the all-new CR-V available in both hybrid and petrol engines at the end of the year”.
