Ford ramps up 132 appeal

In order to celebrate the launch of the new '132' registration plate, Ford is offering bundles of equipment across its model range. The aptly named 'registration packs' cost - you've guessed it - €132; and provide more toys than the price tag might suggest.

The models benefitting from these packs are the Fiesta, Focus, B-Max and C-Max; each getting vehicle-specific packs. The Fiesta will receive air conditioning on its Zetec spec; while top-of-the-range Titanium versions gain rear parking sensors and electric folding mirrors.

The Focus Edge is also better equipped; coming with 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, floor mats and an upgraded centre console. The pack available for the B-Max is very similar, offering 15-inch alloys, fog lamps and floor mats. Buyers of the C-Max can enjoy rear parking sensors and electric folding mirrors in their pack.

Apart from the C-Max, Ford is also giving away its SYNC infotainment system in all registration packs. This system can stream music from any Bluetooth device, features voice activation and can read text messages aloud. In addition, SYNC comes preloaded with Emergency Assistance that calls the emergency services in the event of an accident. It will even pinpoint a vehicle's location should its occupants be unconscious.

"Incorporating great extras such as SYNC, air conditioning and parking sensors; Ford is pushing the boat out on value for anyone thinking of buying a new 132 reg car," comments Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland.

Ford's effort to boost sales of its new cars comes shortly after the announcement that new car sales in Ireland have dropped by 14.5 per cent compared to last year.
