See all Motoring NewsBMW has revealed a new 4 Series Coupe with updated styling, mild hybrid technology and various other improvements and it will launch in Ireland this coming October. The new 4 Series Coupe will be the first BMW to be available with a specialised new M Sport Pro package and it builds on much of the technology that is used in the latest BMW 3 Series Saloon.
The most notable change to the 4 Series is revised styling, including a new distinctively-shaped front kidney grille. The new model is longer than its predecessor with a longer wheelbase and it boasts a sleeker look with a flowing roof line and shorter overhangs than before. Towards the rear it features new darkened LED rear lights and dual-branch tailpipes for a sportier look. Full LED headlights are now fitted as standard along with slim LED fog lights. The new 4 Series Coupe can also be ordered in M Sport specification which adds large outer air intakes, side window and mirror surrounds in gloss black and various other sporty upgrades.
Inside, the four seat 4 Series Coupe is more driver-focused than before according to BMW. The start/stop button is now positioned in the centre console, alongside a newly-shaped gear lever and BMW’s latest iDrive system. Newly-developed sports seats are standard, with extra support for spirited drives and during hard cornering. Heated seats are equipped as standard, while there are five different leather trim colours to choose from. The 4 Series offers 40:20:40 split folding rear seats wand offers 440 litres of boot space with the rear seats in place.
The 4 Series Coupe is the first BMW model to be made available with the new M Sport Pro package which adds a sprint function for additional bursts of speed and a sporty enginee soundtrack in the cabin when SPORT mode is selected. It also adds M Sport brakes on certain models, as well as 19-inch M light alloy wheels, a high-gloss black rear spoiler, BMW Individual High-Gloss Shadowline trim and M seat belts among many other upgrades.
BMW claims significant advances have been made with the range of engines that the 4 Series Coupe will be offered with. All petrol and diesel engines in the range feature BMW TwinPower turbo technology, along with the introduction of mild-hybrid technology for reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The range will be spearheaded by a new M440i xDrive Coupe model, which features a 374hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine. The new 4 Serie s will also be available with a choice of two four-cylinder petrol engines and a four-cylinder diesel from launch, while two further diesel engines are to be added to the range in March 2021. All of these engines are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while BMW’s xDrive all-wheels drive is fitted as standard on all six-cylinder models.
