'Thank You' Lights to be Implemented by 2020

By 2020, all Irish vehicles must have a ‘Thank You’ light secured to the back of their vehicle

By 2020, to qualify for an Irish driving licence, your vehicle must meet a number of requirements as set out below:

Safety Equipment

All vehicles must have the required safety equipment such as airbags, seat belts, first aid kit, fire extinguisher and shock absorbent cup holders.

Roadworthiness

An NCT roadworthiness certificate must be issued for the vehicle every week before the car is driven. (Note: An NCT certificate is not required for a vehicle that is more than 10 years old and that has travelled more than 3,000 kilometres)

Compulsory Lights

By 2020, all Irish vehicles must have a ‘Thank You’ light secured to the back of their vehicle. This new regulation comes after years of reports confirming Irish Drivers are among the rudest drivers in Europe.

Drivers can register to pre-order their “Thank You” light next April Fool’s Day ;-)
