To be honest, most of them will be quite similar when you compare like for like. These cars are taxed according to their CO2 emissions rating, so, to keep that down, stick to models without all-wheel drive or an automatic gearbox, assuming you don't need either. After that, generally speaking, the lower-capacity engines come with lower emissions, but really, we're talking differences of tens of Euros per annum between cars of the same size.
