What's high mileage for a 2008 Mondeo?

What is classed as high milage for a 2008 ford Mondeo and what problems could I expect

Our answer:

Hi Adrian,

Mondeos are large family cars and company motors and so they are expected to do lots of miles per annum in their lifetimes. For 2008 examples, the common mileage showing now is between 200,000km and 300,000km (around 125,000 to 186,000 miles). You will, however, find some cars, probably ex-private hire, which have done more than 300,000km, and we even saw a few for sale with 400,000km (250,000 miles) on the clock. Realistically, it would be unfair to expect an 11-year-old Mondeo with six figures on the odometer to be totally trouble-free, but the Mk4 model was pretty solid. Petrols might be a better bet than diesels in terms of reliability – however, all Mk4 Mondeos used a dual-mass flywheel and these are known to be problematic.
