Im thinking of buying a ford focus 1.6tdi estate it has 219000 miles on it. How many miles are they good for
Hi Paul,
There is no maximum mileage on any car; depending on how they’ve been maintained throughout their lives (under multiple different owners) and – sometimes – just depending on blind luck (you might get a ‘rogue’ car that lasts only, say, 50,000km when a near identical example will do 500,000km with no issue) determines how long a given vehicle will soldier on for. That’s high mileage for a Focus and its estate body suggests it’s an older model that has been used, possibly, as a taxi. It needs sound provenance, a thorough inspection inside and out and for the price to be suitably low to make it worth your while. But if it has got evidence of upkeep and feels solid, and you continue to look after it, there’s no reason it couldn’t do another 219,000 miles again.
