Hello there, How much is the vat and vrt on a new highline vw Tiguan 2 liter diesel?
Hi Majella,
Well, if you do indeed mean VAT, all cars in Ireland are charged at 23 per cent VAT. However, if you mean road tax, as well as VRT, then it depends on whether you have the two-wheel-drive 150hp Tiguan 2.0 TDI, or a 4Motion.
It emits 169g/km CO2 as a 2WD Highline, so that’s Band D for road tax (€570 per annum) and VRT (27 per cent of its Open Market Selling Price, or new list price), while adding 4WD doesn’t add any CO2 unless you team it to a DSG automatic, in which case CO2 emissions increase to 178g/km (Band E at €750 for road tax and 30 per cent of the OMSP for VRT).
If you’re looking at a 190hp model, that’ll be 187g/km (also Band E) while the BiTDI 240hp range-topper is 210g/km (Band F, €1,200 road tax and 34 per cent of the OMSP).
