Yes, from 2015 on, Toyota used 1.6- and 2.0-litre diesel engines in the Avensis. They don't have the faultless reputation that Toyota's older diesel engines have, mainly due to a well-reported issue with timing chains on early cars, but all that should have been cleared up before the engines were used by Toyota. The DPF is as prone to blocking up as any other if it is used on short drives at low speeds most of the time.
