Belt or chain in a 2005 Fabia?

2005 Skoda Fabia 1390cc 75hp (automatic) Does it have a timing belt or chain? How much approx to replace. Car cuts out at the moment while idling at lights (and even sometimes while driving) Would i be right in thinking that it is related to belt/change that is over due on car ( was done once and car has 144km on clock now), Many thanks for any advice

Our answer:

Hi there,

That engine has a timing belt. We don't like to quote costs as every garage has its own labour rates and they can get the parts from a variety of sources, too. I can tell you that the work can take over three hours all in.

I must say though that the symptoms you are describing don't sound like a timing belt issue, unless it has slipped a few teeth somehow. Either way, get the car looked at as soon as possible to ensure no terminal damage is done.
