What's the news?
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Ireland has announced plans outlining a shake-up of its dealer network and a host of new offers for 2014. Building on what has been a good year so far for the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand, the company is taking a realistic approach in discussing its projections for the rest of the year and the coming 12 months. It has reduced the number of dealers in its network from 35 to 24 with the intention of turning these into dedicated specialist van centres that can offer a higher standard of customer care than ever before.

It was also announced that both Caddy and Crafter vans will now be available to order with Trendline specification that will see customers getting more options for a reduced package price. In the case of the Caddy, Trendline will add Bluetooth, colour-coded bumpers, park distance control, air conditioning and an upgraded radio, as well as higher spec seats. This package will cost €1,150 plus VAT and represents a saving of up to 50 per cent when compared to having to order these items individually.

The Crafter, Volkswagen Commercial's largest van, will see its Trendline version arrive with 270-degree rear doors, a driver's armrest, a multifunction steering wheel and a ply-lined floor, all for a cost of €1,150 plus VAT. Bluetooth has now been made a standard feature across all Crafter vans.

In addition to these new trim levels, it was announced that all new Caddys, Transporters and Crafters ordered before December 20 of this year will qualify for zero per cent typical APR. Adding to this, a further announcement confirmed that all Transporter vans registered in 2014 will come with a three-year unlimited mileage warranty, while all Crafter vans registered in the same period will receive a four-year unlimited mileage warranty.

"We have redesigned our strategy in Ireland and we are 100 per cent focused on delivering improved customer solutions. Now with market leading offers such as 0 per cent Typical APR, a network of 24 specialist van centres and sales specialists who can offer the correct solutions to every customer, we are ready to deliver on our new vision, which simply is - Why drive anything else?," said Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Brand Director Alan Bateson.

Anything else?
Volkswagen Commercial has rolled out a fixed-price servicing plan for all of its vehicles meaning that owners can accurately plan and budget for servicing costs before leaving their vehicle in for work. Authorised van centres can also provide a DOE testing service whereby customers can be supplied with a new van similar to their own while the van centre looks after taking the customer's van to and from the test centre, freeing up more time for the customer.
