Peugeot 308 SW arrives in Ireland

Spacious new Peugeot 308 SW estate arrives with starting price of €21,990.

What's new?
Peugeot Ireland has announced prices and specifications for the 308 SW, as the company prepares to dispatch the first customer deliveries this month. The new estate is available from €21,990 (plus dealer delivery related charges) for the Access 1.2 110hp PureTech petrol model, rising to €27,090 for the 1.6 HDi 115bhp diesel in Allure specification. All 308 SW models come with the benefit of a five-year manufacturer warranty.

The asking price for the 308 SW represents a €900 premium over the hatchback on which it is based and all models will feature LED daytime running lights, rear lamps with distinctive LEDs, colour-coded door mirrors and door handles, a spare wheel, air conditioning, one-touch electric front windows, cruise control + speed limiter, radio + integrated CD player, Bluetooth and USB connection, six airbags, ESP stability control and cloth trim. Over and above that the Active model also features dual-zone climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear electric windows, programmable cruise control + speed limiter, hill assist, rear parking sensors, front fog lights, automatic headlamps and wipers and an electrochromatic rear view mirror. It also receives the 9.7-inch multi-function colour touchscreen. Range topping Allure versions go further with 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, an automatic electric parking brake, electric folding door mirrors and courtesy light plus sports style front seats.

At 33 centimetres longer than 308 hatchback the SW model has more rear legroom and a 660-litre boot, making it one of the most spacious cars in its class. It is also one of the lightest with 140kg shaved off the kerb weight when compared to its predecessor, with obvious benefits for economy and emissions. None of the engine/transmission combinations break the 120g/km barrier (the 130hp PureTech 1.2-litre and six-speed automatic transmission fairs worst at 119g/km), meaning no 308 SW will cost more than €200 a year to tax.

Final details:
Of particular interest to Irish buyers will of course be the diesel line-up, which kicks off with the €22,390 92hp 1.6 HDi. Its 102g/km rating is bettered by the 115hp variant however, which clocks in at 98g/km and €23,790.
