New Crafter on the way

Volkswagen has released preview images of the next generation Crafter.
Design sketches released by Volkswagen reveal how the new Crafter van will look when it is officially unveiled later this year. It will be a completely new vehicle that has been designed to offer a high degree of versatility to its wide range of customers.

To further understand what its customer requirements are, experts from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles accompanied them during their daily routines to see just how they were using it and how it could be improved. These areas, according to Albert-Johann Kirzinger, Head of Design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, have been reflected in both function and design.

He added: "In the commercial vehicle sector especially, design has got to work for lots of different customer groups. With the Crafter, a level of surface quality, robustness and at the same time high qualitative value are achieved that have never before been available in this commercial vehicle class."

The final design won't be fully revealed until the autumn, but Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles claims that it will have best in class aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient of 0.33. The design is similar to what has already been seen in the latest Caddy and Transporter models.
