Mazda3 arrives next month

Mazda has released price and specification information for the upcoming Mazda3 that is scheduled to go on sale in Ireland next month.

What's the news?
Mazda has released price and specification information for the upcoming Mazda3 that is scheduled to go on sale in Ireland next month. The new version will come in hatchback and saloon forms as well as four different trim levels; and prices will start from €21,595 when order books open.

Exterior
The new Mazda3 will be the third model from Mazda to feature the company's 'KODO - Soul of Motion' design language, joining both the CX-5 and Mazda6. In terms of equipment, Mazda has been very cagey when it comes to outlining specific trim levels. We know that the Mazda3 will come in SE, Executive, Executive SE and GT/Platinum guises at launch, but we only know that the range-topping GT/Platinum version will come with 18-inch alloy wheels, Xenon headlamps and front fog lights. We also know that buyers will be able to choose from nine different paint finishes, including the 'Soul Red' shade that debuted on the Mazda6.

Interior
Once again, we only have interior details on the top-spec GT/Platinum version. Here you can expect to find a nine-speaker Bose surround sound system, a head-up display and parking sensors front and rear. The Mazda3 can also be specified with the brand's new MZD Connect infotainment system. This system gives users access to the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Podcasts, thousands of digital radio stations via Aha and a host of Mazda's dedicated vehicle apps on the move.

Mechanicals
As you would expect, the new Mazda3 comes with the company's SkyActiv technology under the bonnet. Two engines will be available from launch in various states of tune, with the 150hp diesel unit achieving a CO¬2 figure of just 104g/km when fitted to the top-of-the-range model. The petrol offering is a 100hp unit and can be had on both the saloon and hatchback versions.

Other technology underneath includes Mazda's Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) and Hill Hold Assist.

Anything else?
While the entry-level petrol version comes to market with a price tag of €21,595, you'll need to fork out €25,295 if you want to go with the more popular diesel model. Prices for the hatchback and saloon versions shadow each other as you move up the range, too. First deliveries are expected to take place early January.
