1.5 million Fabias and counting

Skoda celebrates a significant milestone this month as the 1.5 millionth second-generation Fabia rolls off the production line at its main factory.

What's the news?
Skoda celebrates a significant milestone this month as the 1.5 millionth second-generation Fabia rolls off the production line at its main factory in Mlada Boleslav. The car in question was a 1.2-litre TDI model and brings the total number of Fabias produced up to 3,288,063 since the first generation was launched in 1999.

In honour of the occasion, Skoda Ireland has launched an Exclusive version of the Fabia - giving customers €1,100 worth of equipment at no extra cost.

Exterior
Outside, the Exclusive model gets a set of 16-inch alloy wheels as standard. Buyers are also free to choose from the Fabia's entire list of exterior paint finishes as well as the car's extensive options list.

Interior
The extra toys on the Fabia Exclusive include the likes of a leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity and rear parking sensors. These extras join other features such as air conditioning, an auto dimming rear view mirror and an eight-speaker stereo with aux-in capability.

Mechanicals
Whilst details haven't been confirmed, we expect that the Exclusive trim level can be specified with any one of Skoda's existing powertrains. The entry-level motor is a 70hp, 1.2-litre HTP petrol engine; with the powerful 180hp 1.4-litre TSI unit and a variety of 1.6-litre TDI engines featuring in the range, too.

Anything else?
The starting price for the Fabia Exclusive is €15,440 with order books opening this month. First deliveries are expected to take place before the end of the year.
