What new car would you recommend for a €36,000 budget. The required specs would be a 2.0 litre diesel, with an option to have sat nav and leather seats. It has to be a family car with space being important

Assuming you don’t need a seven-seater, then I think your best bet is to go for either a Skoda Superb Combi estate, or a Kia Optima SW estate. Both are hugely spacious, well made, reliable and comfortable, and both should be able to crack the 50mpg barrier in daily driving. That kind of budget buys you either with decent spec too, so you’ll be able to get your nav and leather seats.
