Hi , I have a 12 A4 and thinking about trading in the new year . I was thinking of maybe a crossover such as the Tucson / Sportage . Just wondering am I sacrificing a lot of comfort / power etc just to gain a high driving position . Would you recommend the crossover or advise to stick with the saloon . My mileage has increased in the past few months with work but it is still country roads I am mostly on . Thanks , Kieran
Hi Kieran,
It’s a very good point you make – you will get the higher driving position, but in the case of the Tucson or the Sportage you will sacrifice a lot of performance – that 1.7 CRDi diesel engine is quiet and economical, but it’s not quick. The are both decently comfortable vehicles though, so there’s no sacrifice there. There is a third way, though, and that’s to go for a high-riding four-wheel drive estate car, such as a Skoda Octavia Scout, SEAT Leon XPERIENCE or Volvo V60 Cross Country. Those have the extra ride height and traction to deal with poorly maintained country roads but you’re not making as big a sacrifice in terms of performance and handling.
