World's most expensive video game!

The upcoming Grid 2 racing game from Codemasters costs about €147,000, and comes with a supercar...

For years now the prices of video games have been steadily climbing skywards with latest releases carrying price tags north of €70 rather than the €20 they used to cost (or are we showing our age?). The upcoming Grid 2 racing game from Codemasters has to take the biscuit however as it is priced at £125,000 in the UK - or about €147,000.

No you did not read that wrong; that really does say €147,000, or enough money to buy you a number of distressed properties from NAMA, but in truth that is only for one very special copy of the game. All other copies of Grid 2 will likely carry the usual €70 tag. So what makes the game, proclaimed as the world's most expensive, so special is that it also comes with a supercar.

In exchange for the stated fee one lucky buyer will get a customised BAC Mono - essentially a road-legal race car. The British built car is made of carbon fibre and sports a 280hp 2.3-litre engine that allows it to do 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds, or about the same amount of time it took you to retrieve your jaw from the floor upon reading the price.

In addition to the car the buyer will also receive a tour of the BAC factory, a Grid 2 branded racing helmet, full racing suit and cloves, original Grid 2 artwork and a brand new PlayStation 3.

Order books for the Grid2: Mono Edition are now open. Well we say books but it is really just one line on a gold trimmed Post-It note.
