Skoda teases new Fabia

Skoda previews new Fabia hatchback.

What's new?
Not to be outdone by this morning's official unveiling of the new Mazda2, Skoda has revealed the first image of the all-new Fabia hatchback, which will go on sale later this year after a first public outing at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Outside
On the styling front, from the sketch, it looks pretty much like the current car but with sharper detailing. "This is the first time in a series production vehicle that Skoda designers have incorporated elements from the VisionC show car. Skoda motorsport has also provided inspiration for the final design. These two foundations combined give the new Fabia more dynamics, passion and emotion. This sharp, new image fuses crystalline shapes and sharp lines with the highest precision" says the release accompanying the pics, so it could be that for the first time ever, the Fabia will be more design-led than once it was.

And finally...
Shed a tear for the lovely little RS version. It won't be replaced. There will be a sporty-ish Monte Carlo variant, but the next Fabia will do without a hot hatch variant. Sniff.
