See all Motoring NewsFollowing a highly successful 2016 in Ireland for Skoda, the Czech brand has released its sales and financial figures for the year.
Over 9,500 new Skodas were sold, with overall market share increasing to 6.5 per cent. Skoda stays in sixth place in the sales league, but is gunning to move higher in 2017 with new vehicles and initiatives.
Skoda's finance offers were a big winner for the maker, with over €105m loaned to customers (two thirds of which was PCP finance), an increase of nearly 50 per cent over 2015. New car turnover was up by 29 per cent to €148m, and even parts and accessories saw a €1m jump.
The evergreen Octavia was the biggest seller at over 4,700 units, and with the arrival of the seven-seat Kodiaq SUV planned for March 2017, Skoda should be in for another fruitful twelve months.
The 19 millionth Skoda produced recently rolled out of the Mladá Boleslav factory, and with a €12.5m investment in the Irish dealer network over the last 18 months, the manufacturer is committing to the Irish market in a big way. Skoda Ireland brand director John Donegan remarked: "At Skoda we are extremely optimistic for 2017. The new face of our dealer network will be the most modern of any car brand in Ireland and we will have some exciting new models for our customers to experience. It is a testament to the confidence of our dealer network also that they have such faith in the brand by investing €12.5m in their new showrooms."
