SEAT Ireland launches the new Ibiza in style at CHQ Dublin

Carzone test drives the new SEAT Ibiza on irish soil for the first time

The new SEAT Ibiza has arrived in Ireland and Carzone was at the official launch which took place at the popular CHQ building in Dublin city. The new fifth-generation model made its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March and is now based on a new MQB A0 platform, which means it has changed significantly for 2017. What’s more, it has plenty of new safety features with front assist as standard and optional adaptive cruise control and wireless smartphone charging.

This was our first opportunity to drive the Ibiza on Irish soil and SEAT brought several models along on the day to test drive. We took this distinctive ‘Mystic Magenta’-coloured Xcellence model for a drive around Dublin’s tight and twisty streets, and it was  well-suited to the urban sprawl. This car has the 115hp 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine and it’s a lively unit with excellent fuel economy credentials too.

The Ibiza is available with the choice of a 1.0-litre MPI petrol engine, and more powerful 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines, while later in 2017, a new 1.6-litre TDI diesel model will be available. There are four trims to choose from with S, SE, Xcellence and FR models available, while the SE is likely to be the volume seller here in Ireland.

Stepping inside the new Ibiza, it’s easy to notice that there has been an improvement in space while the seats are more supportive and comfortable too. Thanks to the addition of SEAT’s Full Link technology, the new Ibiza is more connected too, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link functionality. The optional 8-inch colour touchscreen display in our test car was quite impressive and will impress tech fans.

Prices for the new Ibiza start from €14,995 for the S range, €17,335 for the SE range, €18,745 for XCELLENCE and €19,465 for the FR range. We look forward to reviewing the new Ibiza with a comprehensive test drive on Carzone in the coming weeks.

Speaking about the new Ibiza, Niall Phillips, Brand Director at SEAT Ireland said, “The Ibiza is a brand which most people in Ireland are familiar with which is why we decided upon a city centre launch in Dublin to celebrate its arrival in Ireland and showcase it in all its glory. The Ibiza continues to be an icon of the SEAT brand and due to world class innovation and outstanding design, the all-new fifth generation Ibiza is better than ever.“
