Pestaurant is not for the queasy

Rentokil Initial Ireland will be serving up mealworms, crickets and locusts at Killarney's classic motorsport event.

If you've ever been at a big public automotive event and viewed the on-site catering vans with an air of mistrust - believing the burgers to be riddled with botulism and convinced that there are pests running around behind the scenes - well... shame on you. Most mobile caterers are usually excellent. However, if you are the suspicious type of diner, you might want to avoid one of the eateries at the Killarney Historic Rally (KHR), taking place on Saturday, November 29.

Following its huge success at the National Ploughing Championships in September, Rentokil Initial will be bringing its 'Pestaurant' to the KHR. This delightful bistro will be serving up such delicious treats as hot mealworm burgers, salt and vinegar crickets, crispy BBQ mealworms, plain roasted locusts and chocolate-covered mixed bugs. Yum.

The Pestaurant will be in the Liebherr car park at Fossa, serving up its grubby grub between 10.30-11.30am and 1.30-2.30pm, if you're interested in trying something different. Rentokil Initial Ireland is sponsoring this event because its managing director, Michael O'Mahoney, is a local boy from Headford. He said: "Thanks to the company's goal of supporting local community and local businesses, coupled with my own association with rallying, sponsorship of the KHR is the right association for Rentokil Initial. It is a perfect example of a global company supporting local events and is a great chance to give back to and support the businesses that have supported us."

And by giving back and supporting, he means he's going to make you all eat insects. Enjoy!
